Christian grew up and lived in Hammond Indiana for 28 years. He graduated from Morton Senior High School in 2003 and started college at Herron School of Arts/IUPUI. When Christian started college, his drinking and drugging career began. Christian lasted only a year in college and then returned home. Over the next 10 years his addiction and alcoholism increased steadily.
On September 11, 2013, he started his recovery journey and has remained clean and sober since that day. Christian moved into a sober living house, were he quickly became the assistant director. Christian is very active in his recovery and served on the Porter County Substance Abuse Council, as well as giving speeches at schools and other facilities in the area. He also facilitates a relapse prevention group. Christian is now a counselor at Heartland Recovery Center. He provides community resources, supports, and works with the clients to assist them with their everyday lives while they are in treatment.
When clients move forward with their treatment, they will have established community networks to help them continue their individual path of recovery. Christian ensures that client’s overall needs are being met with respect, care, and compassion. He believes that all clients have an important voice in their treatment and helps them to take ownership of their unique recovery.
