Germaine Patterson, one of Heartland Recovery Center’s counselors was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Dunbar Vocational Career Academy High School, Germaine began seeking out his own path which led him to Grambling State University in Louisiana, where he began working towards his dream of attending law school. Prior to graduation from Grambling Germaine completed an internship where he was working with juveniles who struggled with mental health and behavioral problems. This opportunity led Germaine to take a different career path as he recognized his passion of working in the mental health/addiction field. He graduated from Grambling University with a BS in Criminal Justice and has since spent the past several years working in the field where he is most passionate.
Germaine has worked with both adolescents and adults seeking treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, self-esteem/self-empowerment, grief and loss, mental health issues and behavioral problems. His most rewarding moments and experiences are working with families helping them achieve wellness and unity after separation due to incarceration or removal from the home. Germaine fully believes in Heartland’s Philosophy of Real Time, Real World recovery and enjoys seeing families heal together as they walk through their recovery one day at a time.
