Sharron Van Kooten began her education in drugs and addiction thirty years ago, when she became aware that her eldest son was abusing cocaine. For the next ten to fifteen years, her knowledge grew as he drifted between rehabs and relapses.
Eventually, he and his brother started Intervention Services which helps families get a reluctant loved one to go to treatment and asked their mom to come out of retirement to help run the office. Using her experience in the business world, she managed the office, created filing systems and procedures to make a smooth-running operation and directed traffic from incoming phone calls to plane reservations for interventionists.
A second retirement grew frustrating and boring so when they asked her to return and help Heartland Recovery get a solid start, she enthusiastically jumped aboard.
